Next-Generation Computing

What We Do

Next-generation computing research aimed at solving complex societal issues that were difficult to address with conventional methods

For future challenges that are difficult to solve with extensions of conventional approaches, we explore and evaluate computing technologies with fundamentally different architectures.

For example, targeting technologies such as analog computing—which can be expected to deliver significant improvements in energy efficiency depending on the task and conditions, and which may accelerate the evolution of edge AI—NEC Solution Innovators is accumulating technological assets such as knowledge and prototypes, to differentiate ourselves in the future.

Quantum Computing

Leveraging the latest computing technologies, we aim to solve complex and difficult societal issues that have been challenging to address with conventional methods.
For instance, focusing on optimization technologies using quantum annealing, we are working on challenge areas such as transportation, logistics, and tourism, addressing the optimization of on-demand mobility, advanced traffic flow control, multi-object tracking, and applications to set partitioning problems.
We are also paying attention to the potential of quantum gates, which are expected to be put into practical use in the near future.
